The Bloomington Edge are extremely excited to announce the signing of Dashawn Johnson, a lineman from Jersey City, NJ. Johnson (6’4” – 310lbs) attended William Paterson University from 2010-2013. While at William Paterson, he started in 31 of his 37 games. He was also a member of the 2013 All-New Jersey Athletic Conference team, starting at left tackle. He finished his outstanding collegiate career by playing in the 2014 Dream Bowl Senior Football All-Star Game.
Upon graduating from William Paterson, Johnson was invited to the Green Bay Packer’s Rookie Mini-Camp. His scouting report stated, “Athletic offensive lineman with light feet…moves well…confirmed 4.97 forty at his pro day…powerful and raw…has only scratched the surface of his potential.” Johnson has proven himself as an impact player in indoor football when he played for the Cleveland Gladiators, Los Angeles Kiss, and the FXFL’s Florida Blacktips.
Johnson and the Bloomington Edge head coach, Ameer Ismail, played against each other in AFL China where Johnson was a part of the AFL China All-Pro Selection. Coach Ismail is thrilled to have Johnson on the offensive line in 2017 protecting standout quarterback Caleb Holbrook. “He’s a big and athletic lineman who can run and catch the ball”, said Coach Ismail. “We are very excited to have him come to Bloomington. If he does what he’s supposed to, I believe an NFL team will be knocking on his door soon.”
