Bloomington Edge

You'll only need the edge of your seat

Edge Ink OL Kyle Avaloy

Bloomington, IL. – The Bloomington Edge and head football coach Nick Ruud are thrilled to announce the recent signing of former Illinois State offensive linemen Kyle Avaloy.  In addition to playing for the Redbirds, Avaloy has also been in training camp with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Chicago Bears.

"Kyle has elite level talent, and he plays fast and physical,” remarked Coach Ruud about another addition to his roster with NFL ties.  “Kyle knows how to win, and what it takes to be great.  Signing him is another step towards what we need to bring a championship to Bloomington-Normal.”

The experience Avaloy has collected playing against NFL veterans while with the Buccaneers and Bears is something that should benefit everyone on the team.

“At training camp the competition and the sense of urgency is unreal,” Avaloy commented.  “We have to have that same mindset here.  It’s going to be very important that we compete hard going into the season. It’s going to make us better players and a better team.”

Avaloy is no stranger to success.  During his last three seasons at ISU, the team compiled a 23-5 record including an appearance in the National Championship game in 2014. However that was outdoor football. Avaloy will have to adjust to the indoor game, but according to him it will mostly be the new rules he will have to adjust to.

“The speed won’t necessarily be different, just more one on one situations.”

Avaloy is ecstatic to be playing in Bloomington-Normal again, and joins fellow ISU alumni Dontae McCoy on the Edge roster.

“People have told me once you come to Blono you never want to leave.  I didn’t believe it at first, but now I do. I’m glad to see everyone is doing well coming back to my old family.”

Your first chance to see Kyle Avaloy in action will be when the Bloomington Edge opens their season on Sunday February 25th at 5pm inside Grossinger Motors Arena in downtown Bloomington.  Season tickets, FLEX ticket packages, and single game tickets are all on sale now.
